Abbey Gateway, St Albans, survey4BIM

MK Surveys were commissioned to undertake a rectified photographic survey of the Abbey Gateway, St Albans with 1:20 detailed drawings provided.

The historic building, built in 1365 is currently part of St Albans School and was surveyed using a combination of methodologies and technologies including reflector-less total station observations, 3D laser scanning data collection, tripod mounted photography as well as remotely controlled mast-mounted photography.

Using the coordinated observations recorded on site the high resolution images were rectified using specialist software.

Detailed heritage record drawings were then created by tracing detail from the high resolution imagery, including each and every stone, brick and knapped flint. All 174,000 of them!
